Chirk is a site-specific installation based on the gates in front of the Chirk Castle, a late 13th century medieval fortress in Wales built to keep the Welsh under English rule. It consists of hand cut painted Tyvek, a synthetic paper often used in construction as a protective barrier. The actual wrought and cast iron gates were considered to be one of the finest achievements of baroque ironwork in the country.

The building of the Academy of Fine Arts in Lodz, 121 Wojska Polskiego Street, room 129 - the Paper Workshop, which for more than 20 years has been a place of experimentation and exploration of artistic expression in the widely understood medium of paper. Our workshop is based on tradition and knowledge of handmade paper techniques.
The education at the studio is based on an almost journeyman-like introduction of students to higher and higher circles of initiation, and the exercises are constructed in such a way as to imperceptibly enrich the workshop skills of young art students. In my opinion, this is the only way, because education should be based on understanding the potential of the medium, which in our case is paper.
Presented at the Museum of Papermaking, the exhibition is a combination of early program assumptions with an ever-growing curiosity about paper matter and its potential in signaling the problems of the modern world: ecology and raw material processing. The exhibition will feature a selection of works by undergraduate and graduate students and graduates, completed in recent years under the direction of Prof. Ewa Latkowska-Zychska and myself - Dr. Magdalena Soboń, Prof. of the university, curator and head of the Paper Studio.

A small crew embarks on an adventure without captains. On the horizon, no white whale to chase. Theirs is, in fact, a colorful, visionary, enthusiastic challenge, yet at the same time rigorous, precise, and rational. In their works, Crew does not use paper as a writing surface, nor do they paint it. They play with thickness, the third dimension, the less explored and lesser-known surface. They manage to express themselves through the less noble side of paper, rugged, yet nonetheless a powerful and generous medium.

What does it mean to be human? There are so many perspectives for judging, but one thing is clear: since the beginning of mortal time, Homo Sapiens have created art as a means of expressing what humanity, for better or for worse, is capable of.
Where Is the Human? is a national open juried exhibition inviting artists to consider the question of our humanity through the lens of our own time, as we evolve culturally, technologically, and spiritually.

At the IAPMA Post Congress Tour in Berlin, talented paper artists and IAPMA members from around the world, produced a stunning collection intertwining their creativity with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by using paper only. The exhibition aims at raising global awareness on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through art, by making a global cultural ecosystem impact. Each meticulously crafted art piece, employing diverse paper techniques, embodies a specific SDG, offering a unique perspective on these global objectives.
This exceptional collection is now exhibited in the Blue Zone during COP28 in Dubai. ZeeArts Gallery is grateful for the collaboration with the partners IAPMA, The Xsabo Foundation, and DTOS, whose collaboration has brought this innovative project to life.

Wounding is an unavoidable human experience, with individuals and communities bearing scars and lasting reminders of moments and aftermaths of wounding. Some wounds cannot be healed, only carried; and the path to healing can be arduous. But wounding, although painful, can be transformative. ‘Where the light enters…’ uses damaged and repaired paper materials to create visual narratives of wounding and healing. The exhibition explores the idea that wounds, cracks, and brokenness allow light to penetrate spaces that would otherwise remain hidden, invisible, and unaddressed. Wounds and scars reveal the face of humanity, the value in imperfection and stories contained in brokenness. The myth and journey of the wounded healer acknowledges that damage is not always preventable, but can contain the seeds of healing. While wounds can break us; confronting the challenges of deep wounding can reveal insights that help us heal, create meaning and find new ways of being.

'Plant Fever' - exhibition at the Museum of Decorative Arts (Kunstgewerbemuseum) in Dresden. The German museum will present 'Pflanzenfieber. Botanik, Mensch, Design' – an enriched version of the original exhibition – in the beautiful site of Pillnitz Palace & Park.
Current debates - for example on climate justice, the ecological footprint or human consumer behavior - show: The relationship between humans and nature urgently needs to be rethought! The multi-year research and exhibition project PLANT FEVER, initiated by the curatorial duo Laura Drouets and Olivier Lacrouts, takes up this challenge and asks: Can design help us to reshape our relationship with the plant world and show us the potential of plants as true allies?
Parallel to the exhibition, the curatorial team was invited to conceive a plant-related workshop program that will take place during the summer. Entitled The School of Phyto-centred Design, the program will invite participants to explore the vegetal world from various experimental perspectives.

Notebooks, bullet journals and diaries: as containers of ephemera, they accompany our lives. They are filled bit by bit with experiences, remarkable things and memos and take on an important function as a structuring medium in the lives of many people. Often, individual works of art are created in the process, especially when artists keep diaries. The Klingspor Museum has impressive examples in its collection and also presents a variety of artistic expressions in this field, which were submitted as part of an open call for entries.

Jan has been using traditional Korean Hanji techniques to create pieces of furniture and everyday objects for over 23 years. Although she's Australian her passion for this Korean creative process has seen her work exported all over the world. The beautiful handmade Korean papers are the hero of her work as she cuts, pieces, designs and exhibits.
This exhibition is to showcase her work to a wider audience and to many people who have never seen Hanji work before.

Two years ago, to give life to her world inspired by the protists, Marie-laure Miazza experimented with a new technique: engraving on Tetra Pak. She soon developed her own personal approach. She creates small engraved elements in this material, allowing her to add complexity to the printed surface. Then, by playing with collage, superimposition

'Ocean Windows' combines the delicate translucent textures of seaweed paper with the timeless appeal of traditional stained glass windows. Inspiration is drawn from the ornate rose windows that adorn European Gothic cathedrals, and the universal symbolism of the circle.
The seaweed paper artworks in 'Ocean Windows' meld organic materials with spiritual inspiration, tradition with innovation. Although not of the scale or grandeur of the Gothic rose windows they share their luminosity and circular design. Similarly, these ‘windows to the deep’ may allude to things that are ‘beneath the surface’ or usually hidden from view, but the ethereal evocative imagery promotes an initial visceral or intuitive response and invites contemplation and reflection.

In 2023 the American Spinelli Barracks and their 80 hectares of space will become a BUGA site with colorful gardens, a spacious landscaped area for strolling, looking and marveling. In the midst of it all, deliberately chosen architectural reminiscences such as the original 21,000-square-meter U-Halle, originally a military site.
The U-Hall is the architectural highlight on the Spinelli site and the heart of the Federal Horticultural Show Mannheim 2023. The original 21,000-square-meter U-shaped warehouse was partially dismantled to its supporting steel and concrete girder framework for BUGA 23 and reduced to approx. 13,000 square meters. Scaffold-like, permeable structures remained, which were planted with climbing plants, grasses and wildflowers. The inner courtyard of the U-Hall was also upgraded with generous water areas, trees, an old railroad car and lounge areas.
There is also the area “Mushroom” where you can discover different mushroom paper.

Shannon creates objects and sculptures. Her designs are known for their unique methods of using raw, collected, and reclaimed materials from nature, including both vintage and discarded domestic items. She takes every piece of material and put her fingerprint on it in some way, by pounding it with rocks, setting it on fire, or cutting it into pieces and putting them back together again.

The MOW hosts the exhibition "Gronings Light". With "Gronings Light" you might think of the wide space there, but I take a different point of view, the wealth of ideas in Groningen. Think of the cartoon character that lights up when he gets an idea. It is a spatial work in which an old innovation is brought together with a new one in one work.
The starting points are the strawboard industry in the past and the project “the wide green dike” for the future. The straw board industry in Groningen arose because farmers had a surplus of straw and there were enough workers, fuel and clean water in the area. The industry has been lost due to, among other things, shorter grain varieties, odorous cardboard, water pollution, etc. The last factory of that specific product closed in the 1980s.
For the installation, I collected cardboard boxes of the same size.
A box is intended to safely store and/or transport the contents. The content is usually private and not visible. Hidden.
With a little light you might discover...

Again artists are conquering the historic Pillnitz Palace in the joint exhibition series "Artists Conquest" by the Staatliche Kunstsammlungen Dresden (Dresden State Art Collections) and the Staatliche Schlösser, Burgen und Gärten Sachsen gGmbH (SBG). This year's presentation shows contemporary positions of Paper Art, which already give a preview of the forthcoming IAPMA Congresss 2023 - related exhibition "PAPER ALIVE!" of the international Association of Hand Papermakers and Paper Artists (IAPMA) in September. The site-specific works open new perspectives on the unique cultural monument and spur a dialogue with the museums' presentations.
