34 Miniartextil "Eternal Desire"

There is a thread that runs through time, subtle and invisible, yet
In the woven fibres, in the knotted threads, in the repeated gestures of the hand that creates, desire takes shape, becomes visible. It is the artist's breath that becomes matter, it is the echo of an emotion that seeks form.
Eternal desire is therefore a journey into intimacy, but also into the universality of feeling. It is a call to recognise in the small details - in a knot, in a weave, in a passage of light - the greatness of desire that has always accompanied us.

Each work in this edition is a fragment of a larger story: a declaration of love, a suspended thought, an open question. Because if there is anything that holds us together, beyond all distance, it is this fragile and wonderful tension towards something - or someone - that we do not yet know completely.

More Information

The exhibition “The New Life of Old Books” will be living in the palace for the coming months. Varakļāni Palace is a beautiful 18th-century architectural monument, enriched with layers from the centuries that followed. It now houses the Varakļāni Regional Museum. At the moment, active research and restoration work is taking place in the palace, adding a special atmosphere to the space and revealing its historical layers. Once again, it’s clear how much the space influences the exhibition experience – the same works, yet a completely different exhibition.

The exhibition features over 50 works by 17 artists (including 6 members of the IAPMA), most of which were created specifically for this show.

More Information

Between white and blue In the light breeze of summer, Christine unfurls a world of handmade papers, cyanotypes, plant prints and indigo baths. Fibers, leaves, light: everything becomes a trace. The intense blue of indigo dialogues with the transparency of paper, the silence of white, the vibration of shadow. Each piece is a slow journey, born of a patient gesture, an intimate bond with plants, breath and light.

An inner landscape, suspended between sky and matter.

Flores Pretiosi

Sweden

Event Dates

The exhibition is opened from October 26, 2024 until August 31, 2025.

Artist

Cecilia Levy Cecilia Levy

Opening Hours

Thursday to Sunday 11 am - 4 pm

Location

Tumba Bruksmuseum
Sven Palmes väg 2
147 43 Tumba

More Information

For my exhibition Flores Pretiosi, I worked with paper made of the same cotton pulp used in the production of banknote paper at Tumba Bruk.

During an artist residency at Tumba Mill, creating handmade paper in the paper workshop, I began reflecting on the concept of value and what we perceive as valuable. Can the value of nature be measured in money? Is it the paper itself, the natural resources it originates from, or the information printed on it that determines its worth?

For the exhibition I chose to closely examine Swedish banknotes and depict the seven Swedish landscape flowers featured on them—several of which are environmentally endangered.

Location

Kunstforum der GEDOK Hamburg
Koppel 66 / Lange Reihe 75
20099 Hamburg

More Information

From August 6 to August 23, 2025, artist Stephanie Huellmann will exhibit assemblages, drawings, and installations at GEDOK Hamburg that cast a charged and thoughtful gaze on the seemingly hidden aspects of our surroundings.

Using found objects—sourced from nature or salvaged from the cycle of discarded materials—she hand-stitches each piece onto canvas, layer by layer. These meticulous interventions accumulate into sculptural, corporeal wall works that resist quick or casual viewing.

Stephanie Huellmann’s work deliberately opposes superficiality and haste. It calls for attentiveness—for a renewed depth of perception toward the obvious things that often remain concealed amid the social and ecological upheavals of our busy world.

More Information

Ērika Zutere Solo Exhibition – "A Garden Plot for Everyone"

The works in this exhibition incorporate handmade paper from various fibers, industrial paper, paper embroidery, drawing, frottage, and collage – materials and processes that allow ideas to grow like garden beds: gradually, over time, and through touch.

Allotment gardens, often found on the outskirts of cities and along railways throughout Europe, serve as small islands of peace and creativity. They offer people a space not only for cultivating produce but also for nurturing their own well-being. This exhibition reflects that same need – for a personal corner where one can explore, make mistakes, repeat, and find fulfillment.

It is a quiet, physical, and meditative conversation between material, craftsmanship, and thought.

Some of the works were created last summer as part of the Diva Stativa project by the Iapma members in Testorf, Germany.

More Information

In 2022, the Museum of Papermaking in Duszniki-Zdrój launched the first edition of an artistic triennial titled Re-Medium, the results of which you can admire at the presented exhibition. The initiators of the project were Kraków-based sculptor Tomasz Westrych and the late Beata Dębowska, who co-founded the Paper Art Gallery at the Duszniki paper mill.

The series of meetings with artists for whom paper became a medium of artistic expression began in 2022 with the theme of Terra (Earth), symbolizing stability, permanence, and materiality. Paper, as a product derived from the earth, has physical and organic foundations, allowing creators to experiment with the process of papermaking, discovering new forms and techniques.

In 2023, the Air edition expanded the group of participants and focused on paper in various forms, such as paper pulp and recycled materials. The artists explored the potential of paper, combining it with the idea of lightness and transience.

The final edition in 2024, under the theme of Aqua (Water), was inspired by the symbolism of water, emphasizing its power, life-giving nature, and the threats it may bring. Water became the backdrop for creativity that merged art with ecological and emotional reflections.

The Re-Medium exhibition aims to showcase the works created over these three years but also to serve as a starting point for meaningful discussions about the role of paper in contemporary art and its symbolism, which gained new dimensions in each edition. This event proves that paper, despite its apparent simplicity, is a carrier of profound content and can be an ideal artistic medium, pushing the boundaries of traditional creativity.

More Information

The word ‘sustain’ suggests persistence and endurance. It’s durational: a sound, a gift, an action. While it is rooted in care and nourishment, it also recognizes that we survive hardships that leave physical or emotional scars. What links these definitions is the need for community and connection to actively navigate the challenges of everyday life.

I Can’t Go On, I’ll Go On borrows its name from a phrase about perseverance by Samuel Beckett. Whether exploring legacies of the past that are carried into the present, showcasing different flavors of sustenance, or reimagining social frameworks that can reshape the future, the artists in the exhibition recognize the importance of nurturing a collective web of support. To sustain is not just to exist, but to resonate through time. In our current economic, political, and ecological climate, this is more necessary than ever.

More Information

I am the paper
And I have survived almost everything
I have been folded
Crumpled up and thrown away
I have contained your love
And held on to your entire identity
But what now...
... in a time when thoughts are stored in a cloud
and love is lived on a fleeting chat?

The GribGruppen invites you to the refuge of paper, where we gather around our heritage in paper. An archive where diaries, newspapers, love letters, manuals, dress-up dolls and much more, give us a touching insight into our common local daily life and being both before and now. In the archive, paper airplanes transform into clouds of leaflets that descend among us. A sea of sound roars and we sail over the waves of the sea chart.

In Requiem for Paper? Paper unfolds into a sensual universe that evokes images from moments and lives lived in a way that perhaps only paper can? Is this the requiem of paper, the last song of paper?

Requiem for Paper? is presented in collaboration with Gribskov Teater/Papir Akademiet, Helsingør Teater and Kulturværftet.

GribGruppen consists of 3 artists based in Gribskov: Composer and musician Birgit Løkke, scenographer Filippa Berglund and stage artist Helene Kvint.

Paper is the focal point as a material and the vision is to develop close collaborations with the local environment. The works are included in various formats, such as concerts, exhibitions, performance works, etc. Local life and its stories will always be an important part of GripGruppen's projects.

More Information

This exhibition explores how contemporary artists respond to the concept of “land”, how they identify with their environment, and their experience of living within a space.

As the world continues to change around us through climate breakdown and escalating world conflicts, we are constantly reminded of the importance of “land”, to our societies, to our identity, and to our existence.

The exhibition will showcase work by current SSA members that explores the theme of “land” and includes diverse interpretations of the theme, displaying a range of creative mediums, giving a platform for our artists to share their experience of what “land” means to them.

This exhibition theme was inspired by the United Nations’ seventeen Sustainable Development Goals, with particular focus on goal number fifteen: ‘Life on Land’, which looks to protect, restore and promote sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems and reverse land degradation. The motif of “land” has  many connotations that feel very relevant to the current climate of today. How do we identify with the concept of land? How do we use the land, who owns the land we inhabit, and can the land really be owned?

Achieving sustainable and greener practices within the creative arts is one of our Society’s main objectives. The theme of this exhibition was also a consideration of these targets and how the SSA can raise awareness of sustainable practices.

On the floor are boxes in the shape of letters which spell “IN DANGER” planted with 28 kinds of native praire seeds. Above the words are a a dozen hand drawn images of endangered species. Next to each image is a block of ice with that same endangered species inside. The image that is frozen in the ice will slowly disappear dripping into the planters. Because the pulp painting was done directly on the ice and not pressed on a sheet of paper as the ice melts the image will dissolve, watering the prairie grass below. The exhibition "Vanishing Flora" is a statement about our disappearing natural environment and all of us are IN DANGER because of it. All the work conveys the beauty of the natural world.

More Information

How did you make that? Where do you get your ideas from? What kind of tools do you use? This exhibition by members of Aberdeen Artists Society aims to answer just some of the questions artists are often asked. 'Process, Process, Process' presents an intriguing selection of inspirational objects, preparatory sketches, cherished tools, materials and work surfaces, as well as the by-products and leftover material from an artist’s activities. Unusually for an exhibition, the finished artworks are deliberately absent.

More Information

Paper is a realm of memory that resists time. With traces embedded in its layers, it transforms and is rewritten, becoming a palimpsest. SEKA Paper Museum hosts an exhibition that translates this historical dynamism into a modern artistic narrative, merging past and present.

Opening on International Papermakers' Day, Palimpsest: Paper Installation Exhibition explores the journey of paper from an industrial material to a medium of artistic expression. Curated by E. Begüm Savçın, Hülya Küpçüoğlu, and Duygu Sabancılar, the exhibition unfolds within SEKA Paper Museum—a palimpsest space that preserves its industrial past and collective memory. In this setting, shaped by artistic reflection, past imprints merge with the present. Within this historically rich venue, paper gains new meanings on the axis of memory, transformation, and time.

Each artwork invites visitors to rethink paper, not just as a medium but as an active storyteller. The exhibition offers a reflection on how art and material converge, with paper as a means of preserving and conveying histories across generations.

Paper is the star of the show revealing itself in many different guises. Hand made paper, different types of Japanese tissue, papier maché, and paper pulp are just some of the materials being used to create drawings paintings sculpture and architectural models. It is manipulated, burnt, cast, folded, walked on and torn. It is used for collage and all types of printmaking from lino to collograph, lithography, etching and woodcut.

The work in the exhibition ranges from powerful visceral charcoal drawings to hangings so delicate as they move in the still air that it almost seems as if they do not exist. There are tiny intimate paintings, exquisite fine line drawings on costly cotton rag paper and expressive vibrant works on packaging cardboard and paper animal feed sacks. If you love paper you will love this show and if you don’t know anything about it come with the RWA on a voyage of discovery.

Location

Silver Street Studios West Gallery

More Information

Propinquity explores the power of closeness—both in physical form and human connection. Defined as the state of being near, whether in place, time, or relationship, Propinquity takes shape through intricate paper weavings that transform deconstructed original artworks into unified compositions. By meticulously cutting, layering, and weaving, Alison highlights the delicate balance between fragmentation and cohesion, revealing how separate pieces—like moments, relationships, or ideas—can intertwine to create something entirely new. Patterns emerge, edges meet, and colors interlock, echoing the way proximity shapes meaning and experience.
