More Information

Postal Artists Books Project, consisting of three phases, in cooperation with the Association of Cyprus Paper Artists and Association of Turkish Paper Artists in the challenging conditions of the COVID-19 Pandemic, it emerged and was realized as a result of the search for alternatives where creativity in art knows no bounds.

It is important in terms of combining the creativity of artists from physically distant countries in a single book, as many artists from two different countries are matched with each other and the matching artists add their own interpretations to a single book.
This project brought art lovers and artists together with the unifying power and mission of art, the artists of both associations created their handmade book designs and sent them by mail to the artists they matched to complete the book, resulting in two books in total.

Paper has many faces and is versatile, inspiring, natural and offers many possibilities for use. It is impossible to imagine artists' studios without it, and it has its traditional place in collages and assemblages, as well as being the basis for paintings, prints and sketches. But paper is so much more than just a base, without paper our world would be a whole lot poorer.

Collage, an old technique, has become an art over time when it was only a medium, an intermediary between photos, paintings and other materials.
At the time of cubism, of the Dada Movement, and especially with Futurism in Italy, it is experiencing significant development responding to new aspirations to produce more and faster ... "because art is the reflection of society" specifies Stéphane Guibert, curator of the exhibition, artist's agent, and member of the expert panel of the EMR.
Prévert was one of the greatest French collagists. Collage has always accompanied modernity. “Today's students dedicate themselves from school to this art which has gained its independence and established itself throughout the world.
It finds new support with digital technology capable of providing it with a variety of elements. It can drive modernity with digital creations”.

For the second year, the Espace Monet Rolinat will host the International Collage Days.
Twenty artists from all over the world (Japan, Cuba, Greece, Russia, Europe, etc.) will exhibit their creations directed by Stéphane Guibert, exhibition curator.
Conferences, workshops, artist residencies will take place during this event.

“I am showing all the matchboxes that I have put into the world up to now and a large installation with realized thoughts on these matchboxes. I draw stories directly on the wall with colored Japanese rice paper and put a second layer of dust of the story on top. The stories show actual people as Adam and Eve and a third gender in paradisiacal conditions surrounded by animals and plants.

This dust is realized in a thousand-fold enlargement. It is made of paper, colored and processed. Each individual piece stands for a time unit of our earth. It is charged with everything our earth has to offer. Everything that once was, crumbles back to dust. Is everything lost with it? Sand and dust of the desert Sahara are full of energy and fertilize the river Amazon... ”

Randbereiche der Druckgrafik, die Verwendung digitaler Werkzeuge und die Herstellung unikater Drucke nehmen dabei einen immer größeren Stellenwert ein.

A selection of the 100 graphic works made by the expert jury reflects the whole range of the theme from 'the annoying to the productive disturber', from the perspective on personal situations to politically negotiated ones, from structurally designed sheets to the surprising discovery of a predator in the given theme. Peripheral areas of printmaking, the use of digital tools and the production of unique prints are becoming increasingly important.

When Dragons Awake

Croatia

Event Dates

The exhibition is opened from May 04, 2021 until May 16, 2021.

Artist

Aline Dalgleish

Opening Hours

Tuesday to Sunday 11 am - 7 pm

Location

Klovićevi Dvori Gallery
Jezuitski Trg 4
10000 Zagreb

More Information

What happens when dragons, sleeping under the earth, stir and shake it to destruction? When the artist, born under the sign of the dragon, is unsettled out of her wits by the forces of life unchained? When little dragons, lost and deprived, are desperate to make sense of their world? They fly, they rage, they soar. But hopefully, if allowed or helped to gain height, they change perspective, calm down, channel the energy and transform it.

Facing the fire within is one of the most liberating experiences that can be.

“When Dragons Awake” is much more than an exhibition. Presenting the paper works and light sculptures of Aline Dalgleish, it is a retrospective of the artist’s time in Croatia but it is also a charity project designed to raise funds for the benefit of the Association Mali Zmaj (Little Dragons) to be allocated to the development of their art therapy, creative workshops and mental well-being programmes for children in need. Along with collecting funds via ongoing events throughout the exhibition, five of the exhibited artworks will to be sold at auction. A chance for the artist to say goodbye to Croatia, and Thank You.

“When life gets disrupted I know first-hand the solace, and the power, that art and creativity can bring. All the artworks presented here have a story of a search for meaning, or for peace, or for beauty, connected to events that needed to be faced.”
Aline Dalgleish, Zagreb May 2021

The WINTERSALON of the Meissen Art Association follows the tradition of the annual exhibitions of many art associations, in which artists with a regional reference are given the opportunity to present their works of the last years to the public and to sell them. At the same time, the exhibition provides an overview of current themes, motifs, fields of work and contents of artists from Saxony and thus an insight into current developments and tendencies of the regional art scene.

More Information

The Carola Insinger Gallery in Distelhausen, near Regensburg in Bavaria, idyllically situated in the countryside, offers three artists the opportunity to present their works to the public in a joint exhibition. The guideline "from the tree - to the wood - to the paper" reflects the appreciation for trees, which provide wood from which paper is made.
The three artists complement each other in their respective work themes: There are drawings on the theme of trees (Gerda Moser), artistic woodturning works with fresh mossy wood (Hugo Braun-Meierhöfer) and origami paper objects (Ursula von Kirchbach).

More Information

An article by Francien van Overbeeke entitled: Three books, a story about the Tenach, the Bible and the Koran was a source of inspiration for Maya for a project about world religions. A discovery of the writer is that these 3 books draw from the same source. Islam has the same roots as Christianity and Judaism. Roots that go back to a common patriarch. For Jews he is called Avraham, the Christians call him Abraham and for Muslims he is called Ibrahim. And so God also has different names: JHWH, God, Allah.

13th Biennial of Saxon Printmaking
The selection of the 100 graphic works made by the expert jury reflects the whole range of the theme from 'the annoying to the productive disturber', from the perspective on personal situations to politically negotiated ones, from structurally designed sheets to the surprising discovery of a predator in the given theme. Peripheral areas of printmaking, the use of digital tools and the production of unique prints are becoming increasingly important.

'What is art? - Art is - in whichever field you see it - never something random. As much as it is based on talent, gift, overpowering, it is always the opposite of " well meant ", of the harmless running of words, chisel or colors. It is task, responsibility, and it requires the commitment of learning, meditation and practice, of the whole person.'

'The individual tea bag papers after their life function of giving colour, smell and taste, form after being dried and sewed together a new kind of patchwork. At first it seems to be a carpet, a textile, a painting, or a two dimensional object. But the paper starts to create its own form, almost spontaneously, as if it takes over control, finding new forms of life and function. Weather a ball, a cube, a square or sphere, it becomes a three dimensional self- forming object, a transmutation, constantly changing as life itself. In its lightness it is free and has no limitations in form nor in function.'

Lately Ina Fekken has been working with blocks of tracing paper. She is showing the serie "Pleureuses" and "The remarkable disappearance ....". The latter is about insect numbers that have declined alarmingly.

The work shows an increasingly disappearing image of an insect.
For the series “Pleureuses” she used the feathers of, among others, the white heron as an example. They are cut from a block of tracing paper. The block remains intact with contours visible and the feathers hanging like a "tail".

THE DANCE - process description
'We are two artists, a paper artist and a painter, who have created a common work with basis in our various area of work. Because we have a common pleasure in looking on paintings with dancing figures, we were inspired to create the artwork THE DANCE.
Dancing can give pleasure, movement, rhythm, music, gathering and memories. This was the starting-point for our work. We created sketches and carried out experiments with form, structure, contrasts and materials.
The results became 10 objects around 50 cm height - gathered two and two together to 5 pairs, who dance together in a circle of a diameter of 130 cm.'

More Information

Due to the progression of the Coronavirus pandemic, the Musée de Charmey decides to postpone the 10th International Paper Triennial. Originally scheduled from 26 April to 4 October 2020, it is postponed to a later date and will not start until the second half of June, depending on the evolution of the pandemic.

2020 marks the 10th edition of the International Paper Triennial at the Musée de Charmey, founded in 1993 in collaboration with the artist Viviane Fontaine.
This exhibition-competition is open to all artists who have chosen paper as a material in its own right. Abandoning the role of support to assert itself as substance and transformation, paper art is resolutely part of contemporary artistic creation.
For the 10th edition, the Museum will present 74 works by 72 artists from 17 countries.
______________________

For the duration of the exhibition the public will be invited to vote on their favourite exhibit. A ballot box will be provided in the museum for this purpose. The audience prize will be announced and presented to the winner at the exhibition’s closing ceremony on Sunday 4 October 2020.

More Information

The title of the exhibition indicates that the exhibition presents "art papers", which means that all the works on display are artworks on/or with paper. On display are artworks created in different techniques like drawing, photography, collage, comic, illustration or ‘sculpture’ covered with paper.
‘Paper’ is a material that has always fascinated artists, beyond the operational specifications of each one of them; there are sculptors who love drawing, precisely of sculpture, architectural drawings (planning - but not only), painters and craftsmen drawings, as well as paper is the material used for collages and decollage, thus paper for photographic prints. While keeping all the anti-epidemiological measures and controlled access.

Impulse and Light – the motto of SOFIA PAPER ART FEST 2020, is a symbol of the long-standing mission and goals of this innovative and one of a kind in a global perspective festival, that contributed to the presentation of Bulgaria with contemporary artists and affirming the country as the host of the most prominent event for paper art in the world. Created by the Amateras foundation, it is a two–time winner of the European label for innovation, and it attracts thousands of fans and artists from all over the world.
With the exhibition at Kvadrat 500, for which in the spirit of the aforementioned motto art pieces with light have been selected, the 10th edition of the festival is being opened. The message is much stronger now – in a period of social distancing, and aims at bringing light through art in a time of spiritual and physical trial.
