Haiku - is Japanese poetry, accurately and in a very simple way expressing thoughts; haiku is related to the philosophy of zen which in art is characterized by subtlety, aesthetic minimalism and abandonment of one's own "I".
The exhibition "Paper haiku" is the visualization of those values.

The artworks of Małgorzata Antoszewska - Moneta are dominated by elements of far eastern culture because of her stay in Japan, where she learned the art of making Japanese paper called washi in the studio of Isao Nakamura, as well as calligraphy and woodcut; as the artist says: "... it decided about one of my artistic paths, influenced the others"; apart from the paper sphere, the artist deals with painting, unique photography and graphics.

Anne Vilsboell

Opening Hours

Friday 2 pm - 6 pm
Saturday 12 pm -4 pm

Location

Birthe Laursen Art Agency
Store Strandstræde 1
3250 Gilleleje

More Information

In Paper Has a Memory, Vilsbøll explores the origins, history, and uses of paper. The material itself is the central locus of meaning, and it is brought into focus through various sculptures and objects that consider our symbiotic relationship with nature. The group of works entitled Containers of Life and Death, which consists of four urns made from seagrass, kozo, and manila hemp, illustrates the transience of human life, while at the same time evoking the all-encompassing system of nature, in which the new is inevitably born from that which once was. As humans, we are bound to each other and to nature, and our choices will always resonate through the ecosystems of which we are a part. The series comprising My Secret Garden investigates paper as a medium and a storyteller. The textured sheets convey narratives embedded within the very fibers and structures of the paper - organic stories about nature, made by nature.

Throughout her four-decade art practice, Anne Vilsbøll has investigated the qualities and capabilities of paper as a material in both painting and sculpture. She has studied many different papermaking traditions around the world, which in turn suffuse the formal language of her compositions and her thematic considerations. The Paper Academy in Gilleleje serves as Anne Vilsbøll’s studio, where she creates commissioned works and experiments with new practical applications and aesthetic possibilities of bio-based pulp. Additionally, The Paper Academy operates as a space for exhibitions, talks, and art residencies centered around facilitating and inspiring potential new approaches to paper that challenge our accepted conventions.

Exhibition curated by Ângela Barbour, idealized by Altina Felício and the participation of 22 artists invited to think about the issue of Water, the Tietê River, inspired by the text by Mario de Andrade, "The Meditation on the Tietê River" and reflect on the 100 years of the Modern Art Week in 1922. “Laço, Vínculo” refers to a kind of invisible chain or moral or affective bond that exists in the relationship of proximity between people and between them and the whole of Nature.
What have we been doing with the waters and rivers of our lands in the last 100 years? And how has our art evolved? In this project the artists will not only revisit the 1922 Modern Art Week, but create with it and its participants a bond of survival, what we need to rescue, how we evolved, how we can continue, in relation to Art, our Autonomy and our lands, especially our Earth!

More Information

The exhibition MINIARTEXTIL is a juried group exhibition from Arte & Arte held annually in Como, Italy (314 applications 54 selected). For the 30th anniversary in 2020 it could not take place and was postponed 2 times due to covid.
After Como, the exhibition also goes to other places and the cooperation with Montrouge has existed for 16 years. Artworks, exhibited in the frame of the 30th edition of Miniartextil  in Como from April to July 2021, will be exhibited in Montrouge, a quarter of Paris in February 2022, where it has been shown annually since 16 years. The partnership with Arte & Arte is a strong element in the cultural identity of Montrouge.

The basic material of Bara Lehmann-Schulz' artworks is varnished cotton textile arranged in a square with a horizontal hole pattern. Vertical sections of thick paper strings and video tapes are alternately pulled through the holes so that a particular surface texture developed. The colour of all ingredients are black, but due to the individual materiality, structure and form, a special rhythm emerges and a normally monochrome black appears matt or shiny,  depending on the viewers angle of view….

Location

Galleria d'arte della
FONDAZIONE DEI MONTI UNITI
Via Arpi 152
71121 Foggia
ITALY

More Information

Biennale TRACARTE 2020 has been shifted due to Covid 19 to December and January 2021/2022.
The exhibition highlights one of the assumptions at its base, namely that the artist's book cannot be bridled in a 'genre', but constitutes, as Giorgio Maffei, one of the greatest connoisseurs of the material, believed, a 'polyform object'.
The curator concludes: "The exhibition path itself has privileged a free approach to the works, without suggestions of diachronic readings or thematic, technical or material aggregations: the exhibition is the historical precipitate of the artists' individuality and it is the uniqueness of their passions, of their meditations, that each work must give back to us.
