The artists Gabi Mett, Judith Mundwiler, and Pascale Goldenberg have joined forces to form the Textile Open Project - T.O.P. In this exhibition, they present the results of their collaboration for the first time. The materiality in their works is common to all three artistic positions.
The artists with roots in France, Germany, and Switzerland have repeatedly exchanged ideas in recent years. They took part in each other's ideas and projects and exhibited together. These common time spaces led to the idea of the Textile Open Project. This open project allows scope for developments in each individual, is elaborate in many directions, and gives room for innovative thinking and working processes.
T.O.P. Secret
The artists have developed a concept for this exhibition. The concept will not be made public but serves the sole purpose of discussion, cooperation and the development of not only new visual ideas but also unusual exhibition concepts.

"A building that radiates art" is the beautiful title of an extensive catalogue documenting the art collection of the Amsterdam University Hospitals. More than 6800 works of art have been purchased over the past 35 years. Most of them are permanently presented in the corridors and public spaces, indoors and outdoors, of the hospital.
"Kunst op locatie" - "Art on location" describes the concept of bringing art to people in very everyday places. Especially in places like hospitals, which people tend to visit with worry rather than joy, this seems to make sense.

Minitextiles, small artworks realized by textile techniques or materials, have always been the heart of the Miniartextil exhibition project. The potential for experimentation and design, offered by textile art on such a small scale, is often actually devised and elaborated on and then executed on a much larger scale.

‘Mykobütten’ by Tanja Major Handmade MUSHROOM PAPER - made from 100% mushrooms:
"My handmade mushroom paper artworks show new possibilities of paper making, they are made of almost 100% mushrooms and are therefore ‘compostable or sustainable art’ that can be returned to nature or the forest. The fascination with mushrooms has led me to work artistically with their substance and the pigments extracted from them since September 2020."

Whistling winds and light breezes, drafts and storms passing by the mistral, these are the sounds and sensations free to be interpreted by two artists in their own way. Using paper as their common material of expression they reinforce an impression of air and movement. The leaves of the trees make us fly, landscapes open up our eyes and our fantasies. Air breezes coming down from the mountains are made visible to us. The two universes around which the artist's respective work blossoms gave birth to this exhibition presented exclusively at AFC Promotion. The exhibition is part of the Dancing Nanas event, where, among other things, about fifty busts customized by artists from all over the world appears, in the frame of "Pink October" and the foundation Keep à Breast, associated with the fight against the breast cancer.

For many years, Valentin Bakardjiev has been working on his project, Le Grand Bleu. Applying ancient craft techniques he takes them to a fine art level. He applies the Shibori technique with Indigo and ink on different papers including 300 year-old handmade Japanese papers, other washi, calligraphy, and recycled papers. He layers many semi-transparent papers, exploring the possibility of creating the deepest blue as symbol of an endless sky and the deepest ocean.
The Cube Universe is the first interactive installation that Valentin Bakardjiev developed under this research. He gives the viewers chance to feel that they can have the universe in their hands and to see the problems around us in different perspectives. Having The Cube Universe literally in your hands is to understand how responsibility acting as a small individual is important to influence the future.
“The ancient crafts I use come from an era when our planet was still clean. I’m putting my work in a new context of sustainability and multidisciplinary art.”

Sofia - Center
The autumn panel of Sofia Paper Art Fest started with an exotic exhibition from Japan and the new exposition will take us to Northern Europe. The presentation of artists from this region has its background. In 2013, during the Paper Art Biennial, a selection of installations and objects from the Nordic countries had been shown for the first time. In recent years, the interest in contemporary art from Northern Europe and Scandinavia has grown. With this exhibition, Amateras Foundation launches the long-term project United in Art focused on exchange initiatives with Denmark, Iceland, Norway, Finland, and Sweden.
This is the eighth exhibition of the Biennial, with which Sofia Paper Art Fest invites viewers to an oasis of art in the centre of Sofia. The selection of 19 artists is presented in the elegant “Finesse” Gallery, a long-time partner of the SPAF. The contemporary art of Northern Europe is known for the woven mysticism that creeps in through diffused lighting, bringing charm and mystery. Works range from prints and collages to objects, installations and sculptures.
The featured artists work in a diverse range of ideas, techniques and messages to the public, united by their humane and civic stance in the contemporary world. We live in dynamic times with many changes and serious challenges, and this is captured in most of the works through allegory or abstract messages. The war in Ukraine brings turmoil to our reality and the authors do not remain indifferent, but in their way focus on the human being and the preservation of harmony in the world we live in. The works send messages of humanism, affirmation of human values and preservation of peace and security of the planet.

"The beginning of life on earth started in the depth of the blue ocean and that is where I go every morning to fill my energy tank. It is there that I started to meditate about the color blue and the values it has for me. For many months now, I have tried to make my ‘Meditations in Blue’ visible and give them a presence. On the basis of handmade paper, with cyanotype solution, and the help of the sun under the blue sky, I let my thoughts guide me to develop images of the many values and symbols of blue. In many countries the color blue is a symbol for freedom, hope, imagination, inspiration, and sensitivity, but also for depth, trust, loyalty, sincerity, wisdom, stability, faith and intelligence. All the things we need to create our journey of life meaningful. "

24 paper artists from India and 8 other countries of the world have come together to form 12 pairs to create 12 collaborative works of art. The idea is for each artist to push their specialized technique to 'clash and synergize' with their partner from another country or place, shaping and forming 'harmony and a symphony - from diversity and difference'. The most important aspect of this project is that people become more closely knit, build empathic inter-personal relationships, forming a stronger paper artist community in spite of our geographical constraints, after the challenges of missed opportunities and isolation during the pandemic

Nature Art Paper presents a select collection of art and artists who express themselves through paper. The artists express their closeness with nature with the production of works created and inspired by a relationship of affection and which have paper as a support and nature as a medium and message. The exhibition is displayed in the exhibition room and in the garden of the Japanese Pavilion, in Ibirapuera Park, curated by Regina Carmona.
The proposal of works on paper and paper as a work of art, exposes the purity of traditional techniques and the mixtures and possible innovations of contemporary language. An abundant field of research derived from the use and reuse of papers, fibers, saps and pulps that transform and emerge from experience, from artistic making, and from infinite modifications, until they are presented as a work for the public.

Marie-Claire Meier and Jean-Dominique Humbert shape the imprint of the moment. They make us feel the rustle of the envelope, the layers of paper, the suspended dresses, then the murmur of the gesture and the line. They sculpt fragments of time that lull us into the love and fragility of things. From their material, they extract a story, a memory, which they whisper to us through the textures and the breath of words.
