My work is with Hanji, a traditional Korean paper, that is used to make a variety of household items. I design and cut out of cardboard shapes for furniture as well as household items. The cardboard structures are then covered in handmade paper and are enhanced using various methods to decorate each item, from cutting out paper designs to printing my own photographs onto the paper. More lately I've been exploring using Hanji paper to create more contemporary designs.
I've been working in this medium for around 25 years and make regular trips to Korea to update my skills and learn new techniques.
Hanji is little known outside of Korea and I'd like to share my passion for this craft and the beautiful papers I use by introducing it to a more global market.
