I am a professor and doctoral supervisor at the Academy of Arts & Design, Tsinghua University.
My work focuses on practice-based research that bridges traditional craftsmanship and contemporary design innovation,
and I have gained extensive experience in field research,
creative practice and teaching across Chinese handmade papermaking,
woodblock New Year prints and artists' books.
In 2016, I founded the paper brand Zhiyuan and curated the exhibition Zhiyuan: Passing on the Warmth of Handmade Paper,
which has toured more than ten cities in China and abroad.
I also co-founded the Chinese Handmade Papermaking Alliance.
Since 2019, I have been running the "Paper Art Gallery" column on the Zhiyuan WeChat official account,
introducing paper artists from around the world;
the column has published over thirty issues and garnered widespread attention.
In 2020, I established the Research Institute of Handmade Papermaking and Paper Art,
dedicated to the contemporary reinterpretation and innovative practice of Chinese handmade papermaking.
In 2021, I curated the exhibition Skills and Artistry of Chinese Handcrafted Papermaking,
which has to date toured eight cities across China.
In 2023, I published the book Zhi Jiang (Papermakers),
which presents field research in 14 papermaking regions across China and interviews with 38 master papermakers,
and systematically traces the historical development,
technical characteristics, geographic distribution and living heritage of handmade papermaking,
drawing on documentary sources.
The book stands as a social archive of Chinese handmade papermaking today
and received the Book Design Award of the China Government Publishing Award.
In 2025, I launched the World Paper Art Exchange Program,
whose first leg — a study tour of hanji craft and culture in Korea — began in 2026.
I hope to connect with friends around the world through paper,
and together pass on the warmth of handmade paper.

我是清华大学美术学院的教授和博士生导师，致力于传统工艺与当代设计创新的实践研究，
在中国手工造纸、木版年画和艺术家书的工艺考察、创作实践和教学中积累了丰富的经验。
2016 年创立「纸原」品牌，策划「纸原，传递手工纸的温度」展，已在国内外十多个城市巡展，
并参与发起成立「中国手工造纸联盟」。
2019 年起在「纸原」微信公众号开设「纸艺馆」专栏，介绍世界纸艺术家，已推出三十余期，获得广泛关注。
2020 年成立「手工造纸与纸艺术研究所」，致力于中国手工造纸的当代价值转化与创新实践。
2021 年策划「中国手工造纸的技·艺」展，至今已在中国八地巡展。
2023 年出版《纸匠》一书，呈现对中国 14 个造纸产地的田野考察与 38 位手工造纸传承人的访谈，
并基于文献系统梳理了手工造纸的历史发展、技艺特征、分布与传承现状，
堪称一部中国当代手工造纸的社会档案，荣获中国政府出版奖装帧设计奖。
2025年发起「世界纸艺术交流计划」，2026年启动第一站「韩纸工艺与文化考察之旅」。
我希望以纸为媒，联结世界各地的朋友，共同传递手工纸的温度。
