A Macedonian painter, creating symbolic and figurative mixed-media paintings with handmade paper from fungi. Her works have rich texture, and they often sit in between the borders of painting and sculpture. Zimbakova's art practice is interdisciplinary: she blends poetry references with fungi and lichens as media, drawing with lichens and creating mosaics out of fungi. The fungi applied on the fungal paper originate from habitats from all over the world, obtained from dry collections or during personal forays, in collaboration with bio-scientists.
